How the AI Compliance Check Works

Get real-time legal guidance before sending sensitive messages about evictions, notices, or legal actions.

2 min read  ·  Updated June 2026

1

Compose a sensitive message

Type a message containing language like “eviction notice,” “pay or quit,” or “three day notice.” The AI compliance check activates automatically — no manual trigger needed.

2

Review the compliance panel

A panel appears showing the overall risk level, relevant California law citations, and a suggested revision of your message. Review each section carefully before proceeding.

3

Choose an action

You have four options: Send Anyway (override with metadata recorded), Edit your message, Accept the Suggested Revision, or Cancel entirely.

4

Compliance flags stored

If you choose Send Anyway, the message stores compliance metadata including checked: true, overallRisk, and ownerOverride: true. This creates a clear record for your files if the communication is ever questioned.

Common questions

Does this replace legal advice?

No. The AI provides informational guidance based on California housing law. Always consult a licensed attorney for decisions with legal consequences.

Is the compliance check automatic?

Yes. It activates whenever you type certain sensitive keywords. There is no manual trigger — the check runs in the background as you compose.
