How to Export Your Data from Stessa

  1. Export Transactions: Go to Transactions in the left sidebar. Click the Export button in the top-right corner. This downloads a CSV of all transactions. Note: CSV column headings may differ from Stessa’s import format — LeaseBase handles both automatically.
  2. Export the Income Statement: Go to Reporting → Income Statement. Set your date range and select all properties. Click Export and choose XLSX or PDF.
  3. Export the Tenant Ledger: Go to Reporting → Tenant Ledger. Select the tenant or property. Click Export to download as XLSX or PDF.
  4. Download the Tax Package: Go to Reporting → Tax Center. Click Download Tax Package. This creates a ZIP containing PDF reports and receipt images for the selected tax year.
  5. Upload to LeaseBase: Go to app.leasebase.ai/app/import and drop your exported files. Our AI classifies each document and extracts your data automatically.

How LeaseBase Imports Your Data

  1. Upload — Drop your CSV, XLSX, or PDF files into the importer. Multiple files at once are fine.
  2. AI classifies & extracts — Our AI identifies each document type (transaction export, tenant ledger, income statement) and extracts every property, unit, tenant, and lease term. Address normalization and fuzzy matching resolve formatting differences automatically.
  3. Review & confirm — You see exactly what was found. Green means auto-matched to existing records. Amber means confirm. Nothing is created until you approve.

What Gets Imported

  • Properties — addresses, property types, and all associated details
  • Units — unit numbers, bedrooms, bathrooms, square footage, rent amounts
  • Tenants — names, contact information, unit assignments
  • Leases — start and end dates, rent amounts, lease terms

Payment history can be exported from Stessa for your records, but LeaseBase starts fresh with rent collection. Many landlords keep Stessa active for historical tax records while running all operations in LeaseBase.

Why Landlords Switch from Stessa

  • Full operational platform: Stessa is excellent at bookkeeping. LeaseBase adds maintenance management, lease e-signatures, a tenant portal, vendor coordination, and compliance monitoring — eliminating the need for multiple tools.
  • Compliance automation: LeaseBase monitors AB 1482 rent caps, local rent control ordinances, and required disclosures across 60+ California cities — a category Stessa does not cover at all.
  • AI-powered operations: Smart briefings, renewal risk detection, and proactive maintenance triage — your portfolio is monitored continuously, not just when you log in.
  • White-labeled payments: Tenants see your brand, not a third-party processor. ACH and card payments built in with no per-unit fees.
